This link seems like it will be very useful when I am putting my digital portfolio together. It is a very clear and concise guide to what one should think about and gather when completing their own digital portfolio. I intend to try and use this guide as a checklist when working on my own.

Peer Reviews
The second blog I reviewed was Pam Rubel's (http://pamrubel.blogspot.com/) and I chose this blog because I know Pam, and also because I liked the layout of her page. The polka dots stood out to me when looking through my classmates blogs. I chose to comment on her post about self portraits mainly because I liked that she chose an Andy Warhol self portrait. The third blog that I chose to review belonged to Britney Hager (http://hagerbj01.blogspot.com/). I chose her blog because I really liked the pictures that she used for the self portrait assignment, which is also the posting that I commented on. I think that using the blog as a classroom communication tool is a good way to get students to look at others work as well as their reflections. I also think that it is useful for the students to learn how to use to share their insights and ideas. Blogs also provide the opportunity to look back and see how your ideas and insights may have changed over time. I think blogs are like personal time lines, and provide an excellent way learn about oneself.

I would use this resource to help my students document and catalog their artworks. I wish this was a tool that I personally had access to as a student, because over the years and through moving I have lost a good deal of my artwork. Besides looking back at past projects, this would also be beneficial to students looking to eventually enter art school. I think this is a very good way to prepare for that application process.
The second website was for Apple, which I am fairly familiar with. I liked this link about mobile learning:

I would definitely use this with my own students, especially those in middle and high school. It would be especially good for trips to art museums and related field trips, as well as homework assignments.
Thirdly, I visited edutopia. I found this page about project learning:

This talks about the importance of project learning and its benefits. I would use this is my art classroom to engage the students more, and to help them be able to connect real world events to artwork that they are learning about. I feel that my art classroom instruction throughout grade school lacked this, and I definitely paid for that later on in art history classes.

B9 Self Portrait
What is a self-portrait? A self portrait is an image one creates of themselves, that can be drawn, painted, photographed or sculpted, among other things.
What are the distinctive things that make me "me"? Things that make me "me" are my positive and upbeat, never say die attitude, my love for being "artsy-fartsy," my slight obsession with bears, my love of singing, my bright platinum blonde hair, and my sincere desire for peace and honesty among people in this world.
How do I want people to see me? I want people to see me as a strong, smart, independent young woman with a good head on her shoulders.
How can I express my many different sides? I can express my different sides through art such as drawing and painting, as well as poetry or music.
How can I reinvent myself for various purposes or times in my life? Sometimes I need to reinvent myself, and this could be as simple as an outfit or a new hairdo, or as complicated as evaluating and changing my perspective on certain topics. However, I will never change my perspective for the sole purpose of making someone happy.
How am I changing from day to day or year to year? Every day I grow older and wiser, and more experienced.
Who do I want to become? I want to become someone that people can look up to and learn a lot from, both in and out of the classroom.
Part 2:
I chose two very odd self portraits that I found on google images. I chose the first one because I thought it was interesting that someone would take a self portrait of themselves with a blurred out face. I chose the second one because I liked that this guy seemed like quite a character with his goggles on and all the smoke furling around him. These might influence my own self portrait stylistically, plus they are both quite unique which gives me ideas about how to be unique in my own way.

I intend to use this website as a model for ideas when creating my own self portrait. I do like to be unique, but at the same time I like to see what other artists focus on in their own self portraits, so that I can come up with my own personally tailored ideas.

B3 Working with PowerPoint
I googled Powerpoint and found this website, entitled 10 Tricks for Working More Effectively with PowerPoint. While I know most of the ins and outs of the program, this website points out a lot of shortcuts that one could utilize in order to save time while creating a presentation. It even includes screen shots to walk you through the steps of some of the time saving tricks of PowerPoint. I think this website could come in handy for anyone, not only teachers, who uses this program.
B3 Webquest at AKG
Which artworks make an impact or impression on me? Why?
1. Convergence by Pollock, because while looking at it one of the guards told me the story about how the painting was almost destroyed when Pollock dropped a lit match onto its surface, it surprised me that it was so hard to find this match on the canvas, and there were no visible traces of damage to the canvas.
2. La Musique by Matisse, because it is a beautiful painting and it only uses a few different colors.
3. The Old Mill by Van Gogh, who is one of my favorite painters and painted my favorite work, Starry Night. I just really like that the AKG has a Van Gogh and that it is usually on display.
4. Orange and Yellow by Mark Rothko, because it seems like such a bright and happy color field painting, and I especially enjoy brightly colored paintings. It reminds me of looking through a window when the sun is coming up in the morning.
5. Self Portrait with Monkey by Frida Kahlo, because I find Kahlo's story remarkable. I can't imagine going through what she did, let alone being so strong of a woman afterwards.
Which artworks do I feel a connection with? Why?
1. Dynamism of a Dog on a Leash by Balla, because it reminds me of my grandmother's little dog Whiskers, that I used to take for walks as a child.
2. Buffalo 1 by Spencer Tunick, because I have been to the Central Terminal many times for various events, and this photograph takes me back there, despite everyone's lack of clothing!
3. Nude Figure by Picasso, because it was the first "real" artwork that I saw in person as a child, and I'll never forget the feeling I had when I was told that it wasn't a copy, it was in fact the real deal.
4. 100 Cans by Andy Warhol, because I was given a notebook with this design on it as a child, and at the time I didn't know anything about it. I did some research on it, and learned a lot about Warhol because of that little notebook.
5. Head - Red and Yellow by Lichtenstein, because I created my own blue and purple head quite similar to this, in this same style, for a project when I was in eighth grade. It reminds me of creating all the tiny dots to fill in the areas to shade the face.
Which artworks would I like to know more about? Why?
1. La Toilette by Picasso. I'm curious as to how this painting got its name, because the image reminds me of a woman getting ready for the day with the help of her chambermaid.
2. Carnival of Harlequin by Miro, because I remember vaguely hearing about the meaning behind the piece, and it sounded really interesting. I would probably do some background research on this to learn about the symbolism used.
3. Untitled by Jennifer Steinkamp, the video projected onto the floor that looks like an ocean of tie dyed shirts. I saw her exhibit when it was here a year or two ago, and I loved how she used digital media. I would like to know where she got the idea for this piece, because it makes me think of washing newly tie dyed shirts at a laundromat.
4. Mirrored Room by Samaras, I've always wanted to know where the concept for this came from. It is a lot of fun to go inside and see all the reflections of yourself and try to count them, which is basically impossible because they are infinte.
5. Wedding Souvenir by Oldenberg, this sculpture looks like an actual piece of cake. It makes me wonder what he was trying to convey by making this.

Blog Assignment 1
I have wanted to be an art educator since I was a child. I have always loved being artistic and sharing that with others. I also really enjoy working with children. I hope to teach my students as much as possible about art, as well as inspire their creativity. It makes me very happy to know that I have helped someone, especially if it is helping someone express themselves.
